The paired Growth from Awaken the Giant Within separates change into state, story, and strategy. This Journal asks what happens after the attempt: which inputs were actually connected to the result?
Results are rarely caused by one thing
Outcomes usually emerge from a mix of actions, skills, timing, context, resources, constraints, other people, and chance.
That means feedback is useful only when we resist the urge to explain everything with one dramatic cause.
Use a simple results loop
- Define the outcome clearly.
- Identify the actions that were plausibly connected to it.
- Check whether state affected execution.
- Check whether the story changed persistence, interpretation, or risk-taking.
- Check whether the strategy itself was appropriate.
- Name external factors that mattered.
- Adjust one or two variables before the next cycle.
Do not confuse responsibility with total control
Personal responsibility is useful when it increases agency. It becomes harmful when every disappointing outcome is treated as proof of insufficient mindset or effort.
Markets, health, relationships, access, timing, policy, and randomness can all alter results.
What feedback should change
A useful review ends with a decision:
- repeat the same strategy longer,
- change the method,
- improve a skill,
- change the timing or environment,
- seek more information,
- or stop pursuing an outcome that no longer justifies the cost.
The useful rule
Do not explain the result until you have separated what you did, what you believed, how you executed, and what the environment contributed.
Authenticity gate
This remains editorial reflection. IAMRAIN will not label it “What I experienced” until genuine lived material is available.
